No single consumer width is “the Italian size.” Manufacturers selling in Italy use their own fit names and publish nominal width in millimetres. Condoms are regulated as medical devices within the EU framework, but shopping labels such as Regular or XL are not one fixed cross-brand measurement.
For the buyer, the practical rule is simple: compare the exact nominal width, then check material, shape and product length.
Larghezza nominale means nominal width: the width of the condom when laid flat. It is not the full circumference around the erect penis.
Keep the body measurement and product measurement separate.
Current Durex Italy pages show several different widths under familiar fit labels. This is useful evidence that “Regular” is not one universal number.

Control Italia says its condoms are offered in different sizes from S through XXL and identifies the size by nominal width. Its FAQ also gives a useful material example: the 58 mm Latex Free polyurethane condom is described as regular because polyurethane is less elastic than latex.
This means a width number should always be interpreted together with material and manufacturer guidance.

Regular fit can span more than one nominal width.

Measure while fully erect. Wrap a flexible tape around the fullest part of the shaft and record the complete circumference. Keep the tape snug against the skin without compressing the tissue.
Control Italia also emphasizes circumference as the key body measurement. With string, mark the overlap point and measure the marked length against a ruler.

A suitable condom should stay secure, roll down correctly and feel comfortable without painful pressure. It should not repeatedly slip, bunch or come off.
Material changes fit behaviour. Control explains that its 58 mm polyurethane Latex Free condom is still regular because polyurethane is less elastic than latex. Durex Italy's Nude Sensation is also currently a 56 mm Regular latex-free example.
