Magnum is not simply a longer Trojan condom. Magnum Original has a wider base and significantly more room through its mid-body.

The most important point is that Magnum is a product family rather than one single size. Magnum Raw, Original, Ecstasy and XL use different combinations of length, base width and body shape.

The main difference is not simply branding.
Classic Trojan Original uses a straight 53 mm width. That means its published base width and body width are approximately the same.
Magnum Original starts slightly wider at 55 mm but then flares to approximately 62 mm through the mid-body.
That provides extra room through the shaft and head while retaining a somewhat narrower lower section for security.
53 mm base, 53 mm body, 170–190 mm long and straight sided.
55 mm base, 62 mm mid-body, 180–200 mm long and tapered/flared.
57 mm base, 60 mm mid-body and longer 190–210 mm profile.
58 mm base, 63 mm mid-body and the widest current base in the main Magnum line.
Looking only at the base measurement shows the gradual step from classic Trojan sizing toward wider Magnum options.
Trojan Original and Magnum Original provide the cleanest basic comparison between a classic Trojan fit and a conventional Magnum fit.

The jump from Trojan Original to Magnum XL is larger.
Magnum XL currently uses a 58 mm base width, compared with 53 mm on Trojan Original.
It then widens to around 63 mm through the middle.

Trojan's current Magnum XL page states that XL has the largest base width in the Magnum line.
A regular Trojan can remain relatively straight from base through the shaft, while Magnum products often retain a narrower base and open into a wider body.
Someone comparing only 53 mm and 55 mm may think the difference between Trojan Original and Magnum Original is very small.
But the Magnum body expands much further, reaching about 62 mm through the middle.
Many Magnum condoms are longer than classic Trojan Original condoms, although the exact difference depends on the model.
Trojan Original is currently listed at approximately 170–190 mm, or about 6.69–7.48 inches.
Magnum Original and Magnum XL are around 180–200 mm, while Magnum Raw, BareSkin and Ecstasy reach approximately 190–210 mm.
That means some Magnum models can extend about 20 mm beyond the upper end of Trojan Original's published length range.
However, width matters particularly strongly because a condom that is too wide can become loose and may slip.
Most conventional Magnum models are wider than Trojan Original.
The comparison is especially clear when both base and body width are considered.

Magnum Raw is not simply a thinner Magnum Original.
Magnum Raw currently uses a 57 mm base and approximately 60 mm mid-body, while Magnum Original uses a 55 mm base and approximately 62 mm mid-body.
This means Raw is actually wider at the base but slightly narrower through the middle.
Raw is also longer, with a current published range of approximately 190–210 mm compared with 180–200 mm for Magnum Original.
Magnum XL is wider at the base than Magnum Original.
Magnum Original uses approximately 55 mm at the base and 62 mm through the middle. Magnum XL increases those measurements to approximately 58 mm and 63 mm.
The largest practical change is therefore the additional 3 mm at the base. The mid-body difference is only around 1 mm.
If Magnum Original feels secure at the base but slightly restrictive higher up, the answer is not automatically Magnum XL because their mid-body widths are already quite close.
If Magnum Original feels especially tight at the base, the additional XL base width may be more relevant.
Magnum Ecstasy is structurally very different from Trojan Original.
Both currently use approximately a 53 mm base width. However, Trojan Original remains around 53 mm through the body, whereas Magnum Ecstasy expands to around 73 mm.
This produces the very roomy, bulbous profile Trojan describes for Ecstasy.
Someone who fits a 53 mm base securely but wants substantially more room around the upper shaft may experience Ecstasy very differently from a straight 53 mm Trojan.
Trojan's current Magnum guidance describes the Magnum line as large-size condoms and says the range is designed for people with a penis at least approximately 7.1 inches long and with girth of at least around 4.75 inches.
That guidance should still be interpreted alongside the particular Magnum model, because Raw, Original, Ecstasy and XL do not have identical measurements.
A body measurement that works comfortably with one Magnum shape may not make another Magnum feel identical.
If you are deciding between a standard Trojan product and Magnum, measure before making the comparison.
Measure from the base toward the tip while fully erect. Compare that measurement with the current published length range for the product.

Trojan's base-width measurements are lay-flat condom widths. Penis girth is the circumference measured all the way around the erect shaft.

If these problems occur consistently during correct use, a wider shape may be worth comparing.
Moving to Magnum only helps when the condom remains secure.
If Magnum feels too loose, going to Magnum XL is unlikely to solve the problem because XL has an even wider base.
Choose based on the specific fit problem you are trying to solve.
You prefer a classic straight profile and approximately 53 mm flat base/body width feels secure without uncomfortable pressure.
You need slightly more room at the base and substantially more room through the body than Trojan Original provides.
You want a 57 mm base, 60 mm mid-body and longer tapered/flared Magnum profile.
Magnum Original still feels overly restrictive at the base and a larger 58 mm base is appropriate.
Measurement can narrow the options, but actual secure and comfortable fit remains the final check.
