Trojan Standard • Magnum Large • Magnum XL
Compare current Trojan vs Magnum condom sizes by base nominal width, published length, shape and intended fit. Learn how Trojan Original and other standard Trojan products compare with Magnum Original, Raw, BareSkin, Ecstasy and XL—and why Magnum is actually Trojan's large/XL product family rather than an unrelated brand.
Magnum variants also change shape and length, so the size jump is more than one width number.
Current Trojan product pages show several core standard Trojan condoms at a 53 mm base width, while Magnum variants move into wider or more dramatically shaped designs. The table below compares representative current products rather than pretending every condom sold under Trojan has one identical size.

Magnum is a Trojan product family. Trojan's current condom catalog includes classic Trojan products, thin products, sensation products, non-latex options and Magnum large/XL condoms. That means a “Trojan vs Magnum” comparison is really a comparison between standard or non-Magnum Trojan designs and the larger Magnum range.
This distinction matters for SEO and for sizing accuracy. Someone asking “Trojan or Magnum?” is often really asking whether a standard Trojan fit is suitable or whether they need the extra room, length or flared shape offered by Magnum.
Trojan Original currently uses a 53 mm base width, a 170–190 mm length and a straight shape. Magnum Original uses a 55 mm base width, a 180–200 mm length and a tapered/flared shape.
The base-width difference is only 2 mm, but Magnum Original also becomes wider above the base. Trojan's official Magnum chart lists Magnum Original's mid-shaft width at 2.45 inches, approximately 62 mm. So the fit difference is more substantial through the body than the 53-versus-55 mm base comparison alone suggests.

Base: 55 mm / 2.17 in
Length: 180–200 mm

Provides a wider body and somewhat longer published range.
Magnum XL currently creates the clearest base-width step from Trojan Original. Trojan Original is 53 mm at the base; Magnum XL is 58 mm. That is a 5 mm increase in flat base width.
Length also increases from Trojan Original's 170–190 mm range to Magnum XL's 180–200 mm range. Magnum XL is tapered/flared rather than straight, so it provides additional room above the base as well.
Trojan currently says Magnum XL has the largest base width in the Magnum line. It should therefore be compared when standard Trojan products or even Magnum Original feel too restrictive at the base—not simply because the XL name sounds preferable.
Looking only at current base nominal widths, the representative size ladder is simple:
Magnum Ecstasy is deliberately separated from a simple narrow-to-wide ranking because its base is only 53 mm while the body is much wider. Shape can therefore override a simple one-number interpretation.
Trojan's current fit guide classifies standard or regular condoms around a penis length of 5–7 inches and girth of 4.25–5 inches, while large or XL condoms are positioned for length over 7 inches and girth over 5 inches. Magnum product pages also state that Magnum condoms are large-size products for people with a penis at least 7.1 inches long and at least 4.75 inches in girth.
Those two official descriptions are close but not identical. That is a useful reminder that sizing guidance is a starting range rather than a universal hard boundary. A product can sit close to the transition between standard and large, especially when shape changes substantially.
Trojan Ultra Ribbed currently uses a 53 mm straight base and 170–190 mm length range. Magnum Ribbed uses a 55 mm base, a 180–200 mm length range and a tapered/flared profile.
Both are textured products, but the Magnum version is built on the larger Magnum fit platform. If Trojan Ultra Ribbed feels comfortable in width, the Magnum Ribbed version may feel unnecessarily roomy; if Ultra Ribbed feels tight, Magnum Ribbed is the natural same-feature large-fit comparison.
This is one of the most interesting comparisons because both products use a 53 mm base and are published at 190–210 mm length. The important difference is shape. Trojan Ecstasy is described as bulbous, while Magnum Ecstasy is parachute/super bulbous and is part of the Magnum large-size family.
Trojan's Magnum size chart lists Magnum Ecstasy with a 2.9-inch mid-shaft flat width, making it dramatically roomier through the body than its 53 mm base suggests. This is a perfect example of why “same base width” does not always mean “same fit.”
Standard Trojan starts around a narrower straight base, while Magnum adds more base width, more flare, more length or a roomier body depending on the variant.
Trojan Original and Ultra Ribbed provide a straight 53 mm baseline.
Original, Raw and BareSkin move wider and use tapered/flared shapes.
Current Magnum XL has the widest base in the Magnum line.
If by “Trojan” you mean the classic Trojan Original, then Magnum products are generally larger. Trojan Original is currently 53 mm at the base and 170–190 mm long. Magnum Original is 55 mm at the base and 180–200 mm long. Raw and BareSkin are 57 mm bases with 190–210 mm lengths, while Magnum XL reaches 58 mm at the base.
However, Trojan itself also sells bulbous and longer non-Magnum products such as Trojan Ecstasy. So the Trojan brand as a whole is not one single “standard size.” Product-by-product comparison remains the accurate approach.
A standard Trojan product may be the better starting point when a 53 mm straight base feels secure and comfortable and you do not need extra length or flare. Choosing Magnum simply because it is marketed as larger can create unnecessary looseness at the base.
If Trojan Original or Ultra Ribbed already stays in place, unrolls correctly and does not create painful pressure, there is no fit reason to move larger. Feature preferences—thinness, texture, lubricant or material—can then be compared within the standard Trojan range.
Magnum becomes a useful comparison when standard Trojan condoms repeatedly feel restrictive, do not provide enough room through the body, or are shorter than you prefer. Measure erect girth and length first rather than relying on the Magnum name.
Magnum Original is the smallest base step up from Trojan Original at 55 mm versus 53 mm. Raw and BareSkin move to 57 mm and a longer published range. XL moves to 58 mm at the base. Ecstasy provides a different solution by using a narrower 53 mm base combined with a much roomier body.
| Product | Base Width | Difference vs Trojan Original | What Changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trojan Original | 53 mm | Reference | Straight standard fit |
| Magnum Original | 55 mm | +2 mm | Wider base + flared body + longer range |
| Magnum Raw | 57 mm | +4 mm | Wider base + longer range + flared body |
| Magnum BareSkin | 57 mm | +4 mm | Same current size as Raw, different thinness |
| Magnum XL | 58 mm | +5 mm | Largest current Magnum base |
| Magnum Ecstasy | 53 mm | 0 mm at base | Much wider super-bulbous body |
Trojan Original and Ultra Ribbed are currently 170–190 mm long. Magnum Original, Thin, Ribbed and XL are 180–200 mm. Magnum Raw, BareSkin and Ecstasy are 190–210 mm.
The length ranges overlap, so there is no single fixed “Trojan length” and “Magnum length.” Magnum products trend longer overall, but the individual variant should always be checked.
Shape can matter as much as width. Trojan Original and Ultra Ribbed use straight profiles. Most Magnum products use tapered/flared profiles: tighter at the base for security, then wider above it. Magnum Ecstasy uses a parachute/super-bulbous shape with a dramatically roomier body.
A person who needs more room through the shaft but still needs a secure base may prefer a shaped Magnum product even when the base-width difference is modest. Someone who prefers a uniform, straight fit may prefer a standard Trojan shape if the width is comfortable.
Measure erect girth around the fullest part of the shaft and record the complete circumference. Measure erect length from a consistent base point to the tip. Do not use diameter as though it were girth.
Wrap a flexible tape around the fullest part without compressing tissue.
Use a straight base-to-tip measurement.
Note whether your current Trojan or Magnum is too tight, secure or too loose.
Use base width, length and shape—not only Trojan or Magnum branding.
Choose secure and comfortable real-world fit.
See the Condom Measurement Guide for Beginners for the full measuring process.
Size selection does not replace correct use. CDC guidance explains careful wrapper opening, placing the condom on the tip of the erect penis, pinching the tip, unrolling to the base and holding the base during withdrawal.
NHS guidance also covers correct application, checking the packet and expiry date, and what to do if a condom splits or comes off. These steps apply whether you use Trojan Original, Magnum Original, Magnum XL or another external condom.
See the CDC external-condom instructions and NHS condom guidance.

The easiest way to understand the jump from a standard Trojan product into the Magnum family is to compare millimetres at the base. Trojan Original is currently 53 mm. Magnum Original moves to 55 mm, which is a 2 mm increase. Magnum Raw and BareSkin move to 57 mm, a 4 mm increase versus Trojan Original. Magnum XL reaches 58 mm, a 5 mm increase versus Trojan Original.
Those numbers sound small because nominal width measures only the flat product width, but a condom wraps around the entire shaft and stretches in use. A few millimetres can therefore create a noticeable change in tension. At the same time, you should not assume that a 2 mm or 5 mm increase will feel identical across every material and shape.
Shape is especially important in this comparison. Magnum Original, Raw, BareSkin and XL flare above the base, so the roomier feeling continues beyond the base-width change. Magnum Ecstasy is the extreme example: it uses the same 53 mm base as Trojan Original but a much wider super-bulbous body.
Trojan Ultra Thin belongs to the standard Trojan thin collection, while Magnum Thin belongs to the large Magnum family. The main buying question is therefore not simply which one is thinner; it is whether you want a standard-fit thin condom or a larger-fit thin condom.
Trojan's current product catalog positions Ultra Thin as a standard Trojan option and Magnum Thin as a larger Magnum option. Magnum Thin uses the same 55 mm base and 180–200 mm published length range as Magnum Original, with a tapered/flared shape. That makes Magnum Thin the more relevant comparison when a standard thin Trojan feels tight but you still want a thin construction.
If a standard thin condom already fits securely and comfortably, moving to Magnum Thin solely for the name may create unnecessary room. Fit should come before feature preference: establish the width first, then compare thinness, texture and lubricant.
If your main complaint is tightness at the base, compare base nominal width first. Trojan Original provides a 53 mm base. Magnum Original increases that to 55 mm, Raw and BareSkin to 57 mm, and XL to 58 mm.
This is one of the clearest situations where the numerical width ladder is useful. Start with the nearest wider option rather than jumping directly to XL. If 55 mm solves the discomfort while remaining secure, there may be no reason to move to 57 or 58 mm.
If Magnum Original still feels restrictive specifically at the base, Raw, BareSkin or XL become logical next comparisons. If Magnum XL slips at the base, stepping back toward 57 or 55 mm is more sensible than assuming all Magnum products are too large.
Base width is not always the source of discomfort. A condom can feel secure at the base but restrictive through the shaft or head. In that situation, shape matters more than choosing the widest base automatically.
Magnum Original and XL both use tapered/flared designs, so they become wider above the base. Magnum Ecstasy goes further with a parachute/super-bulbous shape. That means someone who wants a secure base with substantially more room through the body may find a shaped Magnum more relevant than a simple straight wider condom.
Trojan Ecstasy also uses a bulbous shape, showing that roomy body design is not exclusive to Magnum. This is why “Trojan vs Magnum” should be evaluated product by product rather than as a single narrow-versus-wide rule.
If you currently use Trojan Original or another Trojan condom that fits well, save its exact dimensions before experimenting with Magnum. A known successful width gives you a much better baseline than guessing from labels.
Suppose Trojan Original at 53 mm feels secure but slightly restrictive. Magnum Original at 55 mm is a controlled first comparison. If your current Trojan already feels loose, moving into Magnum is unlikely to solve the fit problem simply because Magnum is marketed as premium or large.
The same logic works in reverse. If you use Magnum Original comfortably and need a replacement from the standard Trojan range, look for a width and shape that do not reduce room too dramatically. Keep the successful product's width, length and shape in a private note for future comparison.
