RFSU is a major Swedish sexual-health organisation and condom brand. Its current Swedish condom guide divides products into Small, Medium, Large and XL and publishes width, circumference, length, thickness, shape and material.

On Swedish product pages, common sizing words include Small, Medium, Large and XL, while fit descriptions can include tight passform, profilerad, rak, utsvängd and rymlig passform.
These words help explain product shape, but the width in millimetres remains the clearer technical comparison. A 53 mm contoured condom and a 53 mm straight condom can still feel different.
RFSU explicitly notes that width and diameter are not the same measurement.
RFSU Tight is currently the Small option in the Swedish size guide at 49 mm width and 175 mm length. It is positioned for a closer fit than the brand's medium products.
A 49 mm condom can be useful to compare when common 52–53 mm products repeatedly feel too loose or move excessively. It should still roll down correctly without painful restriction.
RFSU lists Beyond Thin and the unlubricated 17006 at 52 mm width. In the current Swedish guide these sit in the Medium category rather than Small.
This shows why a technical width is more useful than assuming a universal label. A 52 mm product can be “Medium” in one range and described differently elsewhere.
53 mm is a major medium-width reference in the Swedish RFSU range. Profil, Thin and Sensual are all listed at 53 mm width and 185 mm length in the current guide.
Their properties differ — Profil is contoured, Thin is extra thin and Sensual is textured — demonstrating that identical width does not mean identical product feel.
RFSU Grande is the brand's current Large latex option at 55 mm width, 110 mm published circumference and 190 mm length. Its shape is flared, so room is distributed differently from a straight condom.
Compared with a 53 mm medium product, 55 mm adds 2 mm of flat width. For someone who finds 53 mm almost comfortable but slightly restrictive, 55 mm is a controlled nearby comparison.
RFSU Sensitive is currently listed in the Large category at 58 mm width, 116 mm circumference and 190 mm length. Unlike most products in the table, it is a latex-free plastic condom.
Material matters when comparing fit. A 58 mm latex-free condom should not automatically be assumed to feel identical to a 58 mm latex condom because elasticity and construction can differ.
RFSU Grande XL is the current XL product in the Swedish guide at 60 mm width and 200 mm length. It is 5 mm wider than Grande and 7 mm wider than the 53 mm medium products.
Grande XL is a useful Swedish-market example of an XL condom, but 60 mm is not a universal global definition of XL. Other brands may use different width thresholds.

RFSU's Swedish guide says circumference is the primary measurement for choosing condom size, not length. It advises measuring the circumference at the root of the penis while erect, using a measuring tape, string or RFSU's printable measurement tool.
Length can also be measured from root to tip while erect, but RFSU explains that condoms can stretch more in length than in width. That is why circumference comes first in its selection method.

RFSU explicitly says circumference determines condom size first and foremost because condoms can stretch substantially more in length than in width.
This does not make product length irrelevant. It means width and circumference should be used first for size, while length remains a separate coverage check.
RFSU product information specifically warns that bredd (width) and diameter are not the same. Width is measured with the condom laid flat.
Penis circumference is another separate measurement. When comparing a 53 mm condom with your own body, do not treat 53 mm as body girth or diameter.

RFSU's guide warns that a condom that is too large may slip off and one that is too small may break. The practical aim is a condom that feels secure and comfortable.
Most products in the RFSU Swedish size guide are latex, but Sensitive is listed as a latex-free plastic condom at 58 mm. Different materials can stretch and feel differently, so width is only one part of the comparison.
RFSU's latex product information recommends water- or silicone-based lubricant when extra lubrication is wanted and warns that oil-based products can damage latex condoms.
Sweden's 1177 healthcare service says condoms reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy when used correctly. It advises checking the expiry date and condition, placing the condom on an erect penis, removing air from the tip, holding the condom at the base during withdrawal and using each condom only once.
1177 also warns against wearing multiple condoms at the same time because friction can make them break. For latex condoms, it recommends water-based, silicone-based or mixed water/silicone lubricants and advises against fat- or oil-based products.
1177 says condoms can be bought at pharmacies, grocery stores, kiosks and online. A wider selection may be available in specialist shops and online stores.
1177 also notes that free condoms may sometimes be available from youth clinics, midwifery clinics, STI clinics and sexual-health services.
