Norwegian condom sizing is easiest to understand when you compare exact width in millimetres rather than relying only on words such as standard, broad or XL.
The current local examples below come from RFSU Norge and Helsedirektoratet’s national free-condom service. They provide a practical Norway-specific picture of the sizes consumers can encounter.

Bredde means width. RFSU Norway explains that condom width is measured while the condom lies flat, and explicitly notes that width and diameter are not the same measurement.
This is the same idea commonly called nominal width in English. A 53 mm condom is 53 mm across when flat; 53 mm is not the wearer’s penis circumference.
When comparing products, keep width, body circumference and total length as separate numbers. That avoids one of the most common condom-size mistakes.
Omkrets means circumference. RFSU says erect circumference is the primary body measurement to consider for condom size, while erect length should also be measured.
RFSU’s guide explains that condoms can stretch more in length than in width, so circumference deserves particular attention when deciding whether a product is too narrow or too roomy.
Do not confuse a manufacturer’s listed condom circumference with a universal ideal body-girth number. Actual fit depends on elasticity, shape and the manufacturer’s sizing system.
RFSU’s Norwegian site currently publishes one of the clearest local size guides. It separates the assortment into Small, Medium, Large and XL and provides width, circumference, length, thickness, shape and material.
The guide places Tight at 49 mm under Small, multiple products at 52–53 mm under Medium, Grande at 55 mm and Sensitive at 58 mm under Large, and Grande XL at 60 mm under XL.
Because the Grande XL individual product page currently lists 58 mm instead, use the current packaging or product specification as the final purchase check.

Norway’s free-condom service is especially useful for local size terminology because the order page gives the widths directly. The service states that Gratiskondomer.no is Helsedirektoratets kondomordning.
Tettsittende is currently 49 mm, Standard is 53 mm and Bred is 56 mm. Thin, Thick and strawberry-flavoured options are also currently listed at 53 mm.
This creates a very practical three-step Norwegian consumer ladder: narrower 49 mm, standard 53 mm and wider 56 mm.
A strong current Norwegian standard reference is 53 mm. The national Gratiskondomer service explicitly labels its 53 mm product Standard, and RFSU places several 53 mm products in its Medium category.
That does not mean every condom sold in Norway must be 53 mm to count as standard. Brand materials, shapes and product families can use different technical dimensions.
If a 53 mm condom already fits securely and comfortably, save that exact number as your baseline when changing brands.
Yes. Current Norwegian examples clearly place 49 mm in the smaller-fit category. RFSU Tight is 49 mm and appears under Small, while Gratiskondomer uses 49 mm for its Tettsittende option.
A narrower condom can be useful when a standard 53 mm product repeatedly slips or bunches despite correct application. But maximum tightness is not the goal.
If 49 mm causes painful restriction, compare a nearby wider product rather than assuming small automatically means more secure.
RFSU’s current Norwegian guide places 52 mm products such as Beyond Thin and 17006 in the Medium category.
This makes 52 mm a useful in-between comparison for someone who finds 49 mm too restrictive but 53 mm slightly roomy, although the actual product shape and material still matter.
When switching from one 52 mm condom to another, compare length and shape as well as width.
53 mm is one of the clearest standard-size reference points in Norway. RFSU Profil, Thin and Sensual are currently 53 mm, and the official free-condom service uses 53 mm for several standard products.
Because 53 mm appears in both a major Norwegian-market brand range and the national free-condom service, it is a useful SEO and consumer reference point for Norway.
Still, do not treat it as a legal national standard. It is a common current product width.
Current Norwegian examples place 55–56 mm in a roomier zone. RFSU Grande is 55 mm and listed under Large. Gratiskondomer’s Bred option is 56 mm and is described as longer and wider than standard.
If 52–53 mm products feel consistently restrictive after correct application, 55 or 56 mm is a logical nearby comparison before jumping to very wide sizes.
A one-to-three millimetre step is easier to evaluate than moving straight from standard to the widest XL product.
RFSU’s current Norway guide places Sensitive at 58 mm in Large and Grande XL at 60 mm in XL. That shows 58–60 mm is clearly on the roomy end of mainstream RFSU Norway sizing.
However, the separate Grande XL product page currently lists 58 mm while still showing 120 mm circumference and 200 mm length. That is an unresolved official-source discrepancy.
For Grande XL specifically, check the latest packet or product page before buying. For general fit education, treat 58–60 mm as a wide to extra-roomy comparison zone.
Current Norwegian examples move from 49 mm close-fit products through a 52–53 mm standard zone to 55–60 mm roomier products.

RFSU Norge says erect circumference is the most important body measurement for condom size. Measure while fully erect, because that is the condition in which an external condom is worn.
Use a flexible tape around the base or fullest relevant part according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Keep the tape against the skin without compressing tissue and record the full circumference.
Measure erect length separately from a consistent base point to the tip. Width and length answer different fit questions.

Norwegian condom product pages normally use millimetres for width. If centimetres are easier to read, divide the millimetre width by ten.

Penis girth and condom width are not the same measurement. Girth is the complete circumference around the erect penis; condom width is the flat product width.
RFSU’s guide publishes both width and a condom circumference reference, but the product’s listed circumference should not be treated as a universal target wearer circumference.
Use body measurement, the current manufacturer guide and secure real-world fit together rather than trying to make the two numbers identical.
If a 53 mm RFSU or free-service condom fits well, keep 53 mm as the first technical baseline when trying another brand. A new product with the same marketing word but a different width can feel different.
Then compare material, length and shape. RFSU Profil is profiled, Tight is straight, Grande has a flared top and Sensitive is latex-free.

Helsenorge provides access to Norway’s free-condom service and explains that condoms protect against both sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy.
Sex og samfunn says free condoms are available through youth health services, school health nurses and its services, and can also be ordered through Gratiskondomer.no.
Condoms can also be bought in pharmacies and many grocery stores. The free service is particularly useful for trying different current widths without buying a full box first.
The current Gratiskondomer ordering page is unusually transparent about width. Tettsittende is 49 mm, Standard is 53 mm and Bred is 56 mm.
The service also lists Thin, Thick and strawberry options at 53 mm. This allows users to change feature while keeping a standard-width baseline.
The order page identifies the service as Helsedirektoratets kondomordning, making it a strong Norway-specific source for current consumer sizing terminology.
Small, medium, large, XL, standard, broad and tight are useful product categories, but they do not replace exact width.
RFSU’s own current guide demonstrates this clearly: Medium contains both 52 and 53 mm products, while Large contains 55 and 58 mm products.
Use the category to narrow the search, then compare exact width, length, shape and material.
Yes. RFSU’s Norwegian guide lists straight, profiled and flared designs. Profil, Thin and Sensual are profiled; Tight and Beyond Thin are straight; Grande has a flared top.
A secure base does not guarantee that the upper shaft or head has the right room. Shape changes where space is distributed.
If the base feels secure but another area feels restrictive, a different shape may help without requiring the widest possible base.
Latex-free options can differ in stretch and sizing. RFSU Sensitive is a current latex-free large example at 58 mm in the RFSU Norway size guide.
Norwegian pharmacy listings also currently carry Durex Real Feel at 56 mm nominal width. That retail example is useful for local availability, but the manufacturer’s current specifications should remain the final product reference.
If you change material because of allergy or preference, keep width near a successful baseline first and adjust only if real fit requires it.
Helsenorge says to roll the condom down the erect penis and keep it on throughout intercourse for protection against sexually transmitted infections. It also advises lubricant when needed.
RFSU’s Norwegian product instructions say to check the expiration date, open the wrapper carefully, pinch air from the tip, roll the condom onto the erect penis, confirm it is in place and hold the base during withdrawal after ejaculation.

If a 53 mm standard condom feels close to correct but repeatedly too tight after correct application, compare the next nearby widths rather than jumping straight to the largest option. In current Norway examples, 55 mm RFSU Grande or the 56 mm Gratiskondomer Bred option are logical first wider comparisons.
If a standard condom repeatedly slips or bunches, the 49 mm Tettsittende / RFSU Tight zone gives you a narrower reference point. Recheck your erect circumference first, because a measurement error can send you in the wrong direction.
If the base feels secure but the upper shaft feels restrictive, shape may matter more than another large width jump. RFSU’s range includes straight, profiled and flared designs, so compare shape together with width. The best result is a condom that unrolls correctly, remains secure and avoids painful pressure.
When you buy condoms in a Norwegian pharmacy, grocery store or online shop, look beyond the front label. Find the technical width in millimetres, check total length when it is published, and note whether the product is straight, profiled or flared.
Also check the material. Latex-free condoms can have different stretch characteristics from natural-rubber latex products. If you have a known successful condom, write down its exact width and use that as your first reference when trying a new brand.
Finally, check the expiry date and wrapper condition before use. Norwegian public-health guidance and RFSU instructions both emphasize correct use. A well-chosen size still needs correct application, suitable lubricant and an intact, in-date packet.
